La P’tite Escale is a story of family, passion and a deep attachment to Carentan and its harbour. A place designed to welcome guests, share good moments and offer simple, homemade cuisine, inspired by local produce and the people of the region.
Our story
La P’tite Escale is first and foremost a family adventure, led by Franck and Mario, father and son, both deeply attached to Carentan. After fourteen years running a bar-brasserie in the town centre alongside Karine and Hervé, the family took over Brasserie L’Escale in Port Diélette in 2022, where Mario naturally joined them, having grown up behind a counter.
In April 2024, a new opportunity brought them back to Carentan: the opening of a restaurant overlooking the harbour, a place close to Franck’s heart.
“I’ve always loved the harbour of Carentan, where I’ve been kayaking for years. I often imagined that one day, working in a place like this, with this view, would suit me perfectly. So when the opportunity came up, I didn’t hesitate,” he explains.
The very next day, father and son visited the location… and just a few weeks later, La P’tite Escale opened its doors, just in time for the 80th anniversary celebrations.
Inspired by the spirit of Diélette, the restaurant champions simple, homemade cuisine, made with local products and offering excellent value for money.
At the heart of it all is the welcome: offering you a warm, friendly and enjoyable moment, every time you visit.
Our signature local dish : mussels & fries
A must-have at La P’tite Escale, mussels and fries are served only in season, from April to the end of September. The mussels come from Dunkirk and are delivered fresh every morning by Romain Laneel, based in Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue.
Our fries are prepared using fresh potatoes from the Val de Saire, ensuring a crispy and generous result.
